Paul Lake June 15

The most excitement this week was Tuesday, when I got my second COVID shot. My appointment was at 11:35 after that we hitched up and headed to the campsite below.




This is Paul Lk. just out of Kamloops, we like it here but no cell service. While we are here, we will catch up with my sister in Kamloops and some friends that live here. Our friends showed up Thursday afternoon, it was great to catch up. They were our witness at our wedding.


We drove some of the roads around Paul Lk this morning before we left for Chase. A couple of photos.

Friday we drive to Chase, so Pat can get her second shot. The first available date in Kamloops was June 29, we will be long gone from here by then.

We will be taking the #5 North to Prince George, then as I said, turn left or right. Which way should we go. As our 4 year old grandson says, put your answers in the comments below. 

I hope this does not sound to mixed up, as I am adding as we go.

    We looked at staying at Paul lake but the site descriptions seemed a bit small for our rig, as you were there, do you think the sites would work with our unit? As to left or right, depends which way the wind blows............... LOL

 Kitwanga July 7 Our destination is somewhere on hwy 37 just past Kitwanga. The drive East was again scenic with light traffic. A few km. past Kitwanga, we found a pullout to stay for the night. It is too bad about all the garbage, Pat pick up two bags full and there was still tons more.  A trucker pulled in for the night, so we were not alone. As this was the first time doing this, it was nice to have someone else close by. I was putting my socks on in the morning and noticed this. Both ankles, above the sock line, ouch. I can only think it might have been sand flees or something like that. Pat was sitting in her O gravity chair with her feet off the ground and has none. Afterbite lotion helps some, it will go away in time. We are at a PP at Meziadin Lake. This is one of the nicest so far, although the most bugs so far. Nisga'a Valley July 1 2021

 This is a side trip well worth taking, rich in history and natural beauty. In 1750 there was an volcanic eruption. The lava flowed out of a small cinder cone and down the valleys to the Nass River. The lava covered 39 sq. km and was over 12 meters deep. over two thousand people lost the lives in the lava. I am sure the local villages would have some fascinating history but they are still closed to visitors.  I am going to put a photo of a story board here, I hope you can read it.   Some Lava. Kluane National Park July 23

 Today we headed North, up as far as Burwash Landing. It is at the top end of Kluane Lake. At the south end of the lake is an Interpretive/Tourist Center. We stopped and got some good info on the area. Other than the polar ice caps, Kluane has the largest ice field in the world. It is also home to Canada's tallest mountain, Mt Logan. Mt. Logan is the second tallest mountain in North America, behind Denali. The third highest is in Mexico Pico de Orizaba. The only way to see Mt. Logan is by plane. We phoned an air tour company to book a flight but they never got back to us. By then it was to late to try another. Knowing that, I would call more in advance and multiple operators, if there is a next time. Even though we did not get to se e the big mountain, the others are still spectacular. A couple of shots.
